The rug auction of crownpoint has been the staple of the crownpoint community since 1964 serving as a hub for social and economic activity.

Weavers start checking their rugs in at 4 00 pm and the auction is scheduled to begin at 7 00 pm. The crownpoint rug auction gives buyers the unique opportunity to purchase navajo rugs directly from the weavers themselves at prices well below retail. Generally held the second friday of each month at the crownpoint elementary school. The proceeds raised by this benefit auction help support the programs exhibits and collections for the museum.

Auction intake continues though until all the rugs are checked in which can delay the auction start sometimes by about half an hour. We are the main rug auction and craft sale on the navajo reservation. The public can preview nearly 200 rugs of all sizes styles and price ranges. Once a month the association holds the crownpoint navajo rug auction where 300 to 400 quality handmade authentic navajo rugs are put up for auction.
